A Rambling Recap and a Surprise!

Hello!
I hope this finds you doing well. Did you have a nice Easter? I thoroughly enjoyed Easter...well, the whole weekend actually. It sure went by quickly though!
I had a 3-day weekend which was wonderful. I kicked off Easter weekend on Thursday by taking these treats to my co-workers.

The librarian at school (who is a good friend and happens to be my friend Jeana's mom) loves to bake and she brought me a box of cupcakes she made. She made my whole kindergarten team a box full. She's the best!

I don't know where she gets her energy! Aren't these pretty? They ones I ate were delicious! I didn't eat them all mind you! I ate two...one that morning and one the next. The hubby ate the other two. We finished up testing on Thursday and had a really great day.

That evening I met my friends for dinner to celebrate Jeana's birthday. It was really nice.,,I always enjoy sitting and chatting with my girls! I made each of them an Easter/Spring goodie bag and included one of these pretty stemless wine glasses in them. Here is mine....it says believe and has a pair of gold rain boots filled with flowers. Theirs each had a different spring icon and flowers with a different word.  They are so pretty!

Friday, the hubby and I were both off work so we made our way over to Lake City to pick some things up from Lowe's and buy groceries. I also went to the new Five Below and Hobby Lobby stores that just recently opened. I picked up a few things at Five Below for my classroom and here's what I got at Hobby Lobby.

I love this line of products and they were all 50% off that day. I got this pretty box and am using it to house all my bill paying items.

I bought the pretty pencil pouch to keep in my purse or my teacher bag. I haven't decided yet. It was too pretty to pass up and only $3!

I bought a couple sheets of stickers. They were also 50% off. I only allow myself to buy these things if they are on sale.

I picked up the bee stickers for a baby shower I am helping with in May. I'm going to be a great aunt! We are having a bee themed shower and it's going to BEE adorable! The honeycomb in the background is bulletin board border I found in the teacher section of the Dollar Tree. I thought it might come in handy too.

I fell in love with this gorgeous washi tape and it too was 50% off! It matches the items above...the box and pencil pouch.

I used some of it in my planner this week....so gorgeous!

Saturday, the hubby whipped out a simple project I requested last week. I wanted a little stand to sit the tv on so it didn't have to sit directly on the Dish Network box. I love how this simple project turned out. It makes such a difference and looks so much nicer. Rooster decided to plop down just as I started to take the picture. He makes me smile! My Sadie hates the camera.

Now to decide what to sit on either side of it. I'm shopping the house for something. This was a no cost project since we have a multitude of scrap lumber from all our projects and remodeling. I already ahd the paint too. Miranda and Bell came Saturday to spend the weekend with us. I always love having her over. Bell was fascinated with all the new country smells. LOL! Saturday evening we went to dinner and met my sister and nephews and after, they came over to visit.

Sunday found us preparing food for the Easter celebrations. We always celebrate with the hubby's family at lunch time and then come back home to celebrate with mine. The hubby's uncle lives on the Suwannee River so of course I had to get river pictures. Bell loved the water...she was so funny trying to catch the minnows.

And his aunt grows some beautiful flowers! We had a nice lunch and visited for a bit before we headed home to see my family.

My sister hosted this year and she had games for us to play. Easter trivia was fun and I won the items you see below....a pretty plaid spatula and some cookie stamps which I think I will use for play doh at school.

I also guessed the closest on the jelly bean estimation. I am pretty good at estimating small items since we do this in kindergarten nearly every day. I've decided that I want each of you to guess and whoever is closest will receive a surprise from me. Details will be at the end of the post.

I was so tired Sunday evening...but it was a wonderful weekend.

Monday after work, I decided to straighten up and reorganize my desk in the craft room. Little projects like this always make me happy. They also help me decompress. I have been sick with allergy/sinus issues for nearly 3 weeks and it is about to get me down. I have had such a bad cough and headaches that I haven't been able to go to my workouts. I'm praying it goes completely away soon. I am starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel, so hopefully!

Anywho, here's a couple more pictures of my desk area.

I picked up this pretty bouquet at Hobby Lobby last Friday too. I used my 40% off coupon on it which made it $6. I love it!

And that my friends is what I have been up to.
Now.....

Be sure to leave your guess for the jellybeans in the comments below. If you are a no reply blogger, you will also need to leave your e-mail. If you are a regular reader and I respond to your comments by e-mail, then you don't need to. I will help you out a bit and tell you it is more than 150 and less than 350. I will also say that if someone happens to guess the same number I guessed, I will send that person a surprise too. You have until midnight Sunday, April 23rd to leave your guess. Be sure to do it because you have a good chance to win since I don't have a lot of readers. I will pick up something fun for the winner this weekend and send it out next week after I announce the winner. As always, thanks for reading, good luck and have a lovely week!

Weekend Recap

Hello friends!
I blinked and the weekend was gone...I don't understand how it happens but it does.
It was a really nice weekend despite the fact that it seemed so short! Friday after work, I went home and did a little cleaning and then packed a bag and headed to Miranda's place in Gainesville. We enjoyed an evening in with this cutie...my grand dog, Bell. Sorry for the blurry picture. I zoomed in on my phone because I was too lazy to get up and get closer for a picture. Miranda says she always drags a treasure in from the yard when she goes out to potty. This time it was a stick...which she proceeded to chew up all over the living room carpet.

We started watching a movie Miranda recommended...Silver Linings Playbook. I feel asleep before it was over (it was a long week in kindergarten and I was sick all week) but finished it the next day. Saturday morning we got ready and went to meet my sister, Nancy and a couple of her kids for breakfast at Metro Diner. Love this place...their food is delicious. I had one of the specials...cinnamon roll pancakes. Oh my....they were heavenly!

After breakfast, Miranda took me to 2nd & Charles. I had never been before so I was excited! It's a book store that sells both new and used books. Check out this wall of books! I thought it might just be spines but nope...stacks and stacks of real books! I want a book wall now!

I managed to find several books to bring home with me...imagine that!
Two of them were books I read recently on my Kindle. I wanted the books for my shelf though. I was thrilled to find out it was educator's week in the store and I got 25% off my total! They give teachers a 20% discount every day though so I will definitely be back to shop some more!

We left 2nd & Charles and went to Old Navy where I purchased a couple simple t-shirts and a cheapo pair of flip flops to wear in the yard. After that we went to Target. I only bought 2 packs of stickers in the Dollar Spot...although they had so many cute things that I resisted.

I did have to purchase these two rolls of washi tape though. I love the copper/rose gold color and didn't have any like it. I haven't bought washi tape in a while so I didn't feel guilty purchasing these.

We spotted this seasonal Boom Chicka Pop in sugar cookie flavor that had to come home with me. Oh my goodness....so tasty! I love Boom Chicka Pop sweet and salty kettle corn. If you haven't tried it and you like popcorn, do yourself a favor and buy some. I promise you will love it!

After Target, we grabbed a quick lunch and then headed back to Miranda's place to let Bell out of her crate. We finished the movie and then I gathered up my things to head home. I had to stop and buy groceries on the way. Saturday evening was spent being lazy.

Sunday morning we talked to Joey's mom and she and her boyfriend decided to come over and check out our new porch. We grilled some steaks, sausage, and chicken and I made a couple sides and they ate lunch with us. After lunch, I cleaned up and piddled around in my craft room for a bit. Sundays are often lazy days around our place....just ask Sadie.

This week is testing week for our kinders. One down and three to go. We are off Friday and I am looking forward to a 3-day weekend for sure. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and may your week be a good one.

Until next time.....

Documenting March & April Rain

I thought I would pop in today and share my March Life Documented scrapbook pages. I am still collecting at least one photo each day to my Collect app. Some days I have several I want to use so I create a collage and use it. This has been such a fun project for me this year. Today after work, I came home and began working on printing my March photos. I didn't get to go to my workout due to my cough that worsens with deep breathing. I thought I would take advantage of having the evening at home by working on my March pages. I actually finished them completely...from uploading to printing...to decorating. Yay me!

Like I have said before, these pages are not fancy in any way nor are the pictures perfect. They are taken on my iPhone and are sometimes very simple. And you may notice, I like to photograph my food. LOL! Occasionally I forget to take a picture or maybe I was not feeling well and have no picture to share, I find a quote on the Internet...as was the case below with Charlie Brown and Snoopy. I was sick that day.

I try to use bits and pieces or ephemera and stickers with similar colors but there  is no real rhyme or reason to the process. I just choose things I think fit the picture. I'm good with that.

I need to go back and fill in some negative space I am noticing now....but that can wait until another day.

It's just a fun, stress relieving process that I truly enjoy. It's the little things in life that make up the majority of our lives and I am loving the process of documenting many of those little things.

I need to print a few extra photos from the month to fill in these last few spaces and March will be complete. I am already excited for April.

Speaking of April...these next photos will be the ones that document today in the Collect app. We finally got some rain! I have been praying for it and the good Lord delivered big time! Mama said their rain gauge said 4 1/4 inches earlier today and it rained again this evening so maybe around 5 inches total. Such a blessing. The arrows are pointing to the rain pouring off my new porch roof! It sounded awesome pounding on the tin roof earlier.

Here it is puddled up on the ground below.  There's a partial view of my steps the hubby built for me. They are so nice...5 feet wide and 15 inches deep. We still have to put in handrails but we plan to build a pergola over the steps and the handrail will be built at the same time. We will also be putting in rain gutters later on.

That's all I have to share today. I am off to bed. I am finally feeling a little better....if I can just get rid of the cough! I hope your week is going well so far.
Until next time.....

A Little Rearranging

Hello friends! Hope you are doing well and enjoying your day. Today is Saturday, April 1st and I am  at home sick. I decided to keep myself  busy with a few little projects even though I feel terrible. I have been wanting to put a different table under my hat/coat rack and mirror in the living room. I don't have a formal entry or coat closet in my home so I have to improvise. I decided to try this vintage record cabinet that I have had for a few years. It has been living in my craft room since I bought it home. You can see it in the photo below. It's the white piece beneath the blue framed chalkboard.

Here it is in the living room...

I think I like it! The inside is perfect for stashing our flip flops as well.

I like how how it looks with the white chevron hat racks we made. I think it will live here for a while! I have always loved rearranging things....even as a kid. I can't do much rearranging with my large pieces of furniture, but I can play around with the smaller ones when I get a hankering. :)

Anywho, moving it out of the craft room left a void....I can't have that now can I? This is after all, the junky room in my home. Every nook and crannie has to be filled! So, I remembered I had this little corner shelf that used to belong to my Granny Valentine. It was tucked away in the craft room closet so out it came to fill the space. I decided to store my paints in here as well as my Cricut and Xyron sticker machine.

Paint...

and more paint.

The top holds a few of my apothecary jars filled with odds and ends. I think I will use some of that paint on the shelf soon. It needs to be brightened up a bit I think! I think it would look neat to paint the outside white and each shelf a different color.
We shall see....stay tuned....maybe over summer break!

The record cabinet had about twice this many jars on it as this shelf holds, so I decided to empty some of them. I had this wooden jewelry box that I had formerly used as a tool box. I emptied it a while back and I was planning to donate it but something kept telling me not to get rid of it. I'm glad I didn't because it was perfect for this project.

Sorry for the blurry photos...I didn't realize they were fuzzy until I uploaded them. You get the idea though! I filled the drawers and then labeled them.

It holds lots of things...mostly wood items, but also my vintage silverware that I plan to make something out of one day.

Now I have several empty jars and I'm planning to get rid of a few. I have some empty space in the closet to do something with now as well. That's a project for another day though. I am feeling pretty lousy so the remainder of the day will be spent being lazy. Mama is making me some chicken and dumplings later and I am so excited! She makes the best and I always crave them when I'm sick. I have the best Mama in the world. (Thank you if you're reading this Mama. I love you!)

I did a little more cleaning and organizing in my craft room before I called it quits. I also updated my planner for next week. I like to add washi tape and stickers every week to make it pretty. I just noticed it matches my pretty box that holds my pens and pencils.

And, that's a wrap! I'm off to find something to watch on TV. Maybe a good Hallmark movie! I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Until next time.....
